Advantages of German Citizenship

You lost your German citizenship?

Re-naturalization is a pathway back to regaining your German citizenship, and yes, you can keep your American citizenship too!

Many of our German clients living in the U.S. come to us with a similar story: They attempted to renew their German passport to find out they lost their German citizenship. How is this possible?

Born in Germany, moved to the U.S., and embraced the American dream to the fullest by becoming a U.S. citizen. The twist? In the process, they were unaware that they automatically lost their German citizenship by acquiring the U.S. citizenship. It’s a shock and feels they lost their roots.

The journey back to German citizenship requires guidance, knowledge, and a bit of paperwork, but imagine the possibilities that come with holding dual citizenship again.

Let’s explore together whether you could be eligible for re-naturalization and how to embark on this journey. We understand the emotional and practical value of holding both German and American citizenships.

Working with us always starts with a consultation to evaluate your situation and likelihood of successful re-naturalization.

Were your parents or grandparents German immigrants?

There might be a huge opportunity for thousands of children with German immigrant parents to the United States, Canada, and other non-European countries, to declare to be German. Are you one of those?

If you were born after May 23rd, 1949, to a German immigrant parent and were previously unable to acquire German citizenship, you now have only a short window to claim your German citizenship. This rule also extends to your descendants.

This new rule took effect on August 20, 2021, and this opportunity expires on August 20, 2031
